| The oldest area of the town, still today preserving age-old traditions. Up until fairly recently the quarter housed the true being of the Cagliari people: carpenters, cobblers, woodworkers, smiths. A modest quarter lacking monumental palaces and large residential complexes. The only exception to the above is the presence of numerous churches: the church of Saint Michael, the churches of Saint Anne, Santa Chiara with its monastery, a Baroque masterpiece dating back to the XVII century, and the smaller churches of Saint Efisio and Saint Restituta. You may moreover visit the interesting Botanical Gardens and the Santa Croce Ramparts, the highest viewpoint in the Stampace area. |
